Job Description

Our Client, a growing and dynamic organisation in the Zimbabwe market is looking for a suitable young, “top-of-the-class,” Legal Counsel to join their team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Be the heart of Legal and Governance issues.
• Overseeing and checking contractual agreements with external suppliers and service providers.
• Interact with relevant public and private stakeholders regarding improvement of legal advice and opinion, contract drafting and administration.
• Monitor implementation of legal advice and opinion, contracting and administration.
• Provide composite reports.
• Playing a proactive role in helping to identify risks in business decisions and working closely with the management team.
• Ensure effective implementation of legal advice and opinion and contract drafting and administration.
• Identify support and develop strategies that will promote improvement of legal advice and opinion and contract drafting and administration.

Qualifications and Experience

• Recognised B. Degree in Law or equivalent qualification augmented by 5 years relevant experience in the legal environment – those with corporate experience will have an added advantage.
• Sound legal skills, including thorough knowledge of Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Law of Evidence, Company Law, Labour Law and research skills.
• Sound knowledge of the Legal environment and related legislation and policies.
• Good command of the English language
• Computer literacy.
• Thorough knowledge of and experience in drafting legislation and litigation procedures.
• Ability to interpret statements or other legal instruments.
• Experience in formulation of legal opinions.
• Knowledge of the new regulatory framework of the Labour Act and drafting of contracts for the organisation.
