Job Description

Support to further development and promotion of the Internet of Good Things (IoGT), COVID-19 Information Hubs and U-Report digital platforms:

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties & Tasks

Lead on planning, developing and producing content for various digital channels, namely, The Internet of Good Things, the COVID-19 Information Hubs and U-Report.
Support the ICT section in the management of these digital platforms and uploading and management of content used on them.
Support the reconstitution of the Zimbabwe U-Report steering committee and create Standard Operating Procedures to be followed by all sections and partners using the U-Report platform.

Assist with requests from sections and partners wishing to utilise U-Report polls and lead on crafting engaging and useful questionnaires for the platform. Assist with the analysis and consolidation of results from U-Report. Provide recommendations from the results to section and partners about the effectiveness of U-Report results. Assist in setting up a system to ensure that the information collected via U-report is available to the program sections to guide their activities.

Support the on-going promotion of the IoGT and the COVID-19 Information Hubs.
Support sections to create new content and sections for the COVID-19 Information Hubs
Support designers and sections in managing existing content that needs to be designed into IoGT friendly formats and facilitate translations into local languages.
Communication materials

The production of communication products and materials are timely executed and followed up to support country emergency related communication activities, regional and global campaigns and priorities, donor visibility and to support a wide variety of communications materials production from sections.

Duties & Tasks

Gather content and coverage of relevant country efforts to identify effective relevant country programme activities and results. Develop complementary, country specific and local community materials and activities. Assist with content and story generation about the digital platforms.
Produce advocacy and communication materials (e.g. briefing notes, images, video, web pages, etc.) that meet the country and global standards
Assist in drafting and editing articles, press releases, human interest stories and other advocacy/information materials for both web-based and traditional media, as appropriate.
Follow up on the production of advocacy and communication materials (e.g., films, videos, audio-visuals, etc.), and oversee the qualitative aspects of production, (e.g., quality control, translations, reviews of layout and graphic design etc.)
Establish or maintain an up-to-date documentation centre for communication materials including publications, press releases and clippings, photographs, audio-visual materials, web resources etc.
Recommend appropriate information and communication materials for use in media, and other advocacy and communication activities; recommend the appropriateness, quality and dissemination of printed and audio-visual materials.
Recommend established contacts, networks, resources and processes to support communication activities.
Monitoring and evaluation

Regular monitoring and evaluation activities are undertaken according to the work plan to ensure maximum impact and continuous improvement of communication efforts. Ensure results and reports are prepared and shared on a timely basis.

Duties & Tasks

Contribute to various reporting requirements for these digital communications platforms and by coordinating appropriate audience research and compiling and analysing relevant data.
Monitor and evaluate the appropriate and timely dissemination of advocacy and communication materials to target audiences and participate in the evaluation of their impact. Monitor and evaluate the use and effectiveness of media materials.
Monitor the public perception and moderate comments and user generated content that comes through the Internet of Good Things web platform.
Ensure good quality data collection, analysis and evaluation and reporting to ensure effective communication strategies, planning and effective and efficient advocacy.
Undertake lessons learned review of successful and unsuccessful communication

Qualifications and Experience

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

Education:

University degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications for Development.

Work Experience

Two years practical professional work experience in communication, print and broadcast media, interactive digital media, website and digital technology development and management.

Field work experience in Zimbabwe or the region.

Background/familiarity with Emergency situations.
