Job Description

St Alberts Mission Hospital Community and Home Based Care with the support from -the Catholic Agency for Overseas Development (CAFOD) is implementing Putting Children First (PCF) Project with partners namely Mashambanzou Care Trust, Mavambo Orphan Care and Justice for Children. The present Project is designed to promote child safeguarding environment as well as realization of all child rights to totality by all children through Multisectoral engagement of stakeholders. This project goal is therefore to have children and youths in selected communities of Centenary, Muzarabani and peri urban Harare realise their rights. This goal therefore dovetails to three objectives as it strives to realize:
• Improved capacity for community members and household capacity (increased awareness of child rights and prioritisation of child education, knowledge of positive parenting methods and improved financial capacity) for prioritisation of child protection (through improved knowledge and attitudes on child protection and GBV and increased household income).
• To have youths with improved knowledge of their rights and commitment to their responsibilities towards the community, the environment and themselves.
• Increased accessibility of services for children and women to fulfil their rights.
Income generating activities will be promoted for vulnerable households and youth in order to provide additional income that can allow them to prioritize child protection; households will be encouraged to use the income to keep their children in school, recognizing the pivotal role of education in avoiding harmful environments and behaviours. Out of school youths will be engaged in age appropriate community initiatives such as community clean ups and IGAs, to keep them away from negative behaviours and coping strategies, including drugs and alcohol abuse, early marriages etc. Pursuant to realizing this outcome selected households are to be trained on entrepreneurship and business management.
Purpose / Objectives of the Assignment
• The purpose of the assignment is to have all selected households trained on entrepreneurship and business management.
Areas of Capacity and Methodology
The consultant should draft the methodology to be employed as well as a brief of the training content to be delivered.
NB: The majority of the participants are already into business enterprises but however have been struggling due to lack of knowledge on business management. Some of the selected participants do not have any business at all, they were selected due to their vulnerability status as well as their perceived capacity to manage Income generating activity from the assessments conducted, hence need support through income generating activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant is expected to help individual participants develop viable business plans and proposals for starters and those already in business as well as help them realize other surrounding opportunities, risks, areas of weakness and appropriate ways to manage them.
After the delivery of the Capacity building exercise the facilitator shall submit to the Project Manager the electronic version of the Report on the training. The Report shall include the followings:
• Concise presentation of the training sessions content and of applied methods, including the most important, attractive ideas of participants on the discussed subjects;
• Handouts of presented topics and tools if any.
• Conclusions and recommendations based on other identified areas of capacity need.
• Other relevant materials
The target group shall be 30 selected households of Chadereka and Botambudzi wards, 10 youths from the same wards as well as 2 teachers from schools to benefit from institutional IGAs.

Qualifications and Experience

-Holder of a degree in entrepreneurship and business management or a related field.
-Should have a minimum of three years of relevant working experience.
-A masters degree in entrepreneurship and business management will be an added advantage.
