Assistant Research Coordinator: Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research (CeSHHAR) Zimbabwe

Background
The Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research (CeSHHAR) Zimbabwe is a non-government organization undertaking multi-disciplinary research in the areas of HIV prevention and care, sexual reproductive health (SRH), male circumcision and early childhood development in Zimbabwe.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job description
Under the overall guidance of the Research Director, Key Populations, the key responsibilities for the Assistant Research Coordinator will include: Ensuring effective and efficient overall daily running of all research activities; Supporting the director to implement all research components and within stipulated timelines as aligned with research protocols; Collaborating and liaising with program staff to manage implementation logistics; Closely communicating with courier companies and shipment of samples on a day to day basis; Supporting the Research Director in managing the transportation of samples and regularly monitor laboratory conditions as relevant to ensure sample integrity; Planning, implementing, and maintaining data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocols; Supporting the Research Director to ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of research and data collection activities; Acting as the primary administrative point of contact for internal research staff and as the principle operational liaison for other research organizations, Funding agencies and regulating bodies; Providing regular update reports to the Research Director on the studies’ progress; Supervising and coordinating the provision of support services to investigators and researchers; Supporting the Research Director to monitor the progress of research activities; Developing and maintaining records of research activities, and preparing periodic ad hoc reports as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies and/or regulatory bodies; Maintaining accurate records of study participants and safeguarding their confidentiality; Preparing ethics applications and timely renewals as appropriate; Implementing quality control processes throughout the conduct of research trials; Performing miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned including support for other studies related to the Key Populations Research Division.

Qualifications and Experience

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s degree in development, management, social sciences, public health or related field; An advanced degree will be an added advantage; Minimum one-year experience in program coordination, volunteer management in a health related, adult education or frontline client service; Demonstrated understanding of the complexity of issues related to HIV/AIDS; Self-starter and ability to work with minimum supervision; Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Ability to maintain quality, safety and handling of bio specimens according to good clinical practice; Independent, quick and precise working style, team-oriented, attention to detail; Good initiative and ability to plan and manage activities with limited supervision; Personal commitment, efficiency, flexibility, and drive for results; Ability to work with people from diverse professional and social backgrounds; Computer competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint; Familiarity with data storage and analysis systems such as STATA is an asset; Familiarity with translating and transcribing qualitative interviews is an asset; Valid certificate in GCP and Ethics
