Job Brief
Reporting to the Director of Communication and Marketing and working under limited supervision, the Alumni Relations Officer develops, coordinates, promotes, maintains and evaluates special events, programmes, and projects with a focus on creating means by which to engage the alumni community to actively participate in the growth and development of the University.

Duties and Responsibilities


Roles and Responsibilities
• Develops and implements the University’s Alumni Relations strategy. • Plans, develops, coordinates and evaluates programmes, projects and events to promote alumni relations, academic programmes and University activities designed to create an opportunity for the alumni community to actively participate in the growth and development of the institution. • Develops, sustains, and strengthens alumni chapters globally to keep the alumni engaged with and connected to their alma mater. • Represents the University at various community and/or business meetings, to promote existing and new programmes and/or activities. • Generates content for the various alumni publications which include the alumni web-page and social media platforms. • Plans, budgets and fundraises for the strategic direction of the alumni office. • Maintains the database of alumni and produces statistical information as and when required by the University. • Promotes the alumni community to current students with the aim of growing its database. • Works closely and helps academic departments to develop structures and strategies for establishing alumni relations with their graduates. • Liaises with counterparts at peer institutions to ensure that the University’s alumni relations programme follows best practice.

Qualifications and Experience

Required Skills and Experience
• Significant experience in alumni relations, fundraising, public relations, communications or similar role. • Strong interpersonal, communication and administrative skills and the ability to work flexible hours with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. • A vibrant and community-oriented self-starter with a strong and confident personality. • Ability to plan, organize and facilitate high quality range of special events and activities off and online. 2 • Good writing and knowledge of using desktop publishing and image editing software for multi-media content. • Attention to detail. • Strong database management skills and ability to produce detailed reports. • Experience in event management. • Maintain a good knowledge of the higher education sector and, in particular, the University. Qualifications • MUST be a member of the NUST Alumni Association. • A Degree in Business or Marketing, Communication, Public Relations or any related discipline. • At least 2 years’ experience working in marketing communications, public relations and event organization. • Experience in fundraising is an advantage. • Candidates must be highly computer literate and have excellent writing, communication and presentation skills.
