Adolescent Friendly Health Specialist: Local NGO

Location: Harare based
Contract duration: 10 months
Summary of position
A local NGO seeks a motivated healthcare professional to oversee the provision of high-quality adolescent friendly Health Services within its programme. The AFHS will assist in the development of adolescent friendly health services standards. The successful candidate must possess the ability to interact easily with young people. The AFHS Officer must be willing to visit sites on a regular basis to ensure AFHS standards are routinely followed. Experience working on youth-related health programs is strongly desirable. This position will report to the Program Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Lead in the development of adolescent friendly health service standards; Participate in developing, organizing, and facilitating trainings for service providers on AFHS; Provide counselling to all adolescent girls and boys; Work with schools to set up schools clubs; Ensuring the effective running of school clubs; Develop adolescent friendly IEC materials; Work with the M and E Officer to evaluate the programme; Provide psychosocial support to adolescent boys and girls; Work with Clinic Managers to ensure clinics for adolescents are running effectively; Provide timely reporting to supervisor on all activities; Assist with other related activities as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Required qualifications
Healthcare worker with clinical experience in a health facility; Holder of a Social Science or Nursing degree; Excellent oral & written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills required; Strong relationship-building skills to facilitate strong partner relations with other service providers; Experience working with young people on youth-related health issues with an ability to communicate with youths at their level; Familiarity with public health issues, especially as they affect youth; Clean class 4 drivers licence and ability to drive a manual visit is a MUST.
