Job Description

A new organization that seeks to exonerate wrongfully convicted persons and advocate for Criminal justice reform in Zimbabwe is seeking to recruit a highly qualified individual to join our team. Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidate to fill in this position

Duties and Responsibilities

Court appearances
 Developing relationships with local /State advocates and the judiciary as a whole
 Representing the Organization in specified state level task forces
 Speaking public interest in the need for innocence reforms
 Conducting legal research and analysis and preparing legal opinions, studies
 briefs and reports
 Legal Paperwork. Policy Formulation and Implementation
 Drafting all legal documents and ensuring that other contractual documents are legally sound, vetted, reviewed and interpreted
 Drafting and Developing and implementing relevant guidelines/procedures/manuals such as those pertaining to investigations procedures and ethics, search of premises, etc;
 Following up on all key developments or best practices and recommending appropriate policy and legal review
 Any other duties as assigned by the Legal Officer from time to time
 Briefing local law firms on the Innocence Cases

Qualifications and Experience

 A minimum of two years advocacy experience
 A Bachelor of Laws Degree from an accredited University ( A Masters degree will be a added advantage)
 Registration with the Law Society is a MUST.
 Skills and Motivation to interact effectively with a wide variety of diverse people
 Sound judgment ,a high level of personal and professional confidence
 Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a high pressured environment
 Ability to work independently and take initiative with minimum supervision
 Passion for the Initiatives mission and a commitment to Criminal Justice Reform
